Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Sensors Engineer - EWS/Principal Sensors Engineer - EWS to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Melbourne, FL.

**This position may be filled by either at the Sensors Engineer - EWS level OR at the Principal Sensors Engineer - EWS level based on the qualifications listed.**

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Reports to the Electronic Warfare System (EWS) Lead and is responsible for hardware/software integration and test in the laboratory, test bed and planeside.
  • Assists with the planning, coordination, and analysis supporting development, integration, test, production, and flight test.
  • Must demonstrate technical understanding in the field of RF spectrum operations as well as knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Must have effective communication skills and a demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely present technical approaches and findings.
  • Frequently collaborate with technical leadership on system requirements generation and associated flow down, subsystem design/analysis, and subsystem performance verification including lab and range testing. The Sensors engineer will be required to support any stage of the aircraft system life cycle activity such as developing primary designs, integrating into a system, supporting fielding of the system, supporting airworthiness activity, and supporting testing of the systems.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure robust and maintainable configurations are produced.
  • Attend internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates. The Sensors Engineer will work under limited supervision; work should only be required to be reviewed for accuracy and consistency with meeting overall objectives.
  • Must have the ability to determine and develop approaches to solutions within schedule and cost objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

Sensors Engineer - EWS (T02):

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 2 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 0 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. (STEM) AND 0 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SAP) in a reasonable amount of time determined by the company (needed to start).
  • Experience with Integration and Test campaigns
  • Experience with RF Test Equipment, Electromagnetic Spectrum Operation theory, signal processing, data fusion, software, trackers, covariance matrices, correlation, ambiguity functions, OMS/OCS standards, sensor physical ICDs, software ICDs, bus standards, and/or data rates
  • Willingness and ability to pass and maintain an FAA class 3 flight physical
  • Willingness and ability to perform subsystem testing onboard a flying test bed

Principal Sensors Engineer - EWS (T03):

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 5 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 3 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. (STEM) AND 0 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SAP) in a reasonable amount of time determined by the company (needed to start).
  • Experience with Integration and Test campaigns

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance
  • Current PAR/SAP
  • Integration of subsystems components into various types of aircraft applications.
  • Experience as a Test Engineer that includes test planning, execution, and operations
  • Experience with lab and flight test operations
  • Experience in an aircraft maintenance/operations environment

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
