Job Description
The Senior Supervisor, Operations Management is responsible for planning, controlling, measuring, and coordinating all aspects of their assigned product line(s) in order to meet external and internal requirements. Lead a diverse cross-functional team and run complex projects to meet commitments in a fast-paced environment. Responsible for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost targets. Continually increase profitability, efficiency, safety, and quality of a product line(s). The product line manager will be the primary interface with Program Managers and is responsible for weekly team meetings to discuss product strategies and status as required.
Essential Functions:
- Managing direct reports to ensure schedules for the product line(s) are achieved. This includes ensuring that the product line(s) are properly staffed in accordance with program requirements
- Ensuring employee safety throughout the operation process, developing/enhancing Job Safety Analysis (JSA) where required
- Champion safety and 5S+1 initiatives to drive an improved culture for product line(s)
- Effectively collaborates and communicates across functional departments to ensure an efficient transition of hardware through the factory
- Eliminate waste, utilizing lean manufacturing principles, resulting in improved efficiency, lead time reductions, and process improvements
- Lead product line Gemba process and strive for 100% engagement of the staff
- Create a product line team environment, leading to Lean 2 Second improvements to increase profitability and improve lead-times
- Develop, maintain and update capacity, capital and resource (manpower, equipment, tools) planning inputs that ensure product line execution capability
- Identify and coordinate capital expenditures and project completion for product line
- Monitor failure trends and quality defects and drive resolutions that achieve a “zero” defect culture with no escapes to our customers
- Analyze product line operations (daily, weekly, monthly) and initiate timely corrective actions to ensure efficient production flow and achievement of product line goals
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 4 years prior relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or industrial engineering with 3 years DoD, Space, or Avionics manufacturing environment
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing Principles; mistake proofing, 3P, 5S+1, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Root Cause Analysis, Gemba, Pull-Flow, etc
- Experience in leading a cross functional team or previous supervisory experience
- 6 Sigma Green/Black Belt
- Experience with (or understanding) Earned Value Management (EVM) and its principles
- Experience in Material Planning and knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
- Experience with (or understanding) Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
- Experience managing production programs involving the build, integration and test of electronic and/or electromechanical systems
- Experience developing proposal inputs
- MBA or MS Degree
