ARES is supporting NASA in launching the Artemis mission to send astronauts back to the Moon. One of our roles is providing the systems engineering & integration (SE&I) function for Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) to ensure they perform perfectly as SLS and Orion are built, integrated, tested, and launched. It is an exciting mission supported by an awesome team of engineers working side by side with their NASA customers. We engineer, test, and problem solve on NASA's critical launch infrastructure and ARES is looking for a manager to lead this team. As the SE&I Manager you will work within the KLXS Program Office, executing the duties of the KLXS contract and managing activities of the SE&I organization. This role requires excellent skills in leadership, teamwork, planning, execution, employee management, and customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering discipline.
- Experience of managing complex engineering projects through full NASA project life cycle, from initial proposal, up to production release.
- Have experience of working with Project Managers, effectively minimizing requirements growth, scope creep, and ensuring strong objective criteria for verification.
- Possess a strong understanding of the systems engineering discipline, with relevant experience at KSC, to enable effective systems integration.
- Have participated as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team and led development and presentation of engineering solutions to government customers.
- Have strong leadership and organizational skills, with a minimum of 5 years previous proven line management experience.
- Experience in facilitation techniques, preferably with a Six Sigma green or black belt certification
- Able to work five days a week (M-F, 8-5) onsite at KSC.
Responsibilities:
- Support the PMO and PM with program management activities, process development, leadership, and strategy.
- Lead, plan, and direct a team of highly professional engineers, working in a design / development and analysis technical environment.
- Line manage the System Engineering and EGS Futures Engineering Teams and develop and mentor junior employees to provide effective services to NASA. You'll create personal development plans for individuals in your team, and recruit internally and externally when necessary.
- Review and audit technical documentation, including design reports, drawings, flight test plans, and other product / project technical documentation, ensure that engineering activities are delivered in line with company procedures.
- Provide technical support and advice to customers and internal stakeholders, including NASA EGS Leadership.
