Job Description
The engineering organization is looking for a highly motivated individual to provide support as a Principal Specialist, Project Management. As a key member of the engineering team, the Principal Specialist assists with project planning, metrics tracking, data analytics, and general project management support activities in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have an unwavering positive attitude, be highly responsive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, and strive to go above and beyond expectations in daily duties.
This role is ideal for professionals who combine technical expertise with leadership and project management skills, capable of managing complex projects while fostering collaboration across teams. The Principal Specialist will work closely with engineering teams, product managers, and stakeholders to define project requirements, allocate resources, track progress, and mitigate risks. The role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and cross-functional leadership, along with professionalism in interactions at all levels of the organization and an affinity for ensuring process conformance.
This is a multi-faceted role requiring versatility in a collaborative environment, working closely with cross-functional teams and leaders across global locations to ensure project success.
What You Will Do
- Supports the development of project plans and budgets, manages schedules and prepares status reports.
- Tracks progress and ensure adherence to established plans, schedules, budgets and cost center alignment.
- Identifies and resolves obstacles to minimize disruption to project schedules.
- Facilitates project tasks with the various functional organizations to ensure alignment with overall project objectives.
- Demonstrates the ability to solve moderate to complex problems.
- Demonstrates team building, leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Develops and follows existing procedures, processes and work instructions.
- Coaches, mentors and provides technical guidance to new team members.
- Attends and participates in group meetings, teleconferences and/or training required.
- Actively participates in initiatives for continuous improvement using CORE tools and change management tactics.
- Supports site logistics operations through materials, supplies and services requisitions when required.
- Monitors contract and vendor performance to ensure adherence to SOW when required.
- Ensures product is delivered on time and meets quality standards; perform delivery assurance responsibilities when required.
- Based on business needs, the incumbent may be required to support other duties/functions within the company.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience. In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.
- Professional experience in project management, with at least some in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Project management methodologies: Gantt charts, critical path analysis, risk management, change control
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and manage multiple priorities
- High proficiency in MS Office suite; SAP
- Proficiency or knowledge of AutoCAD
- Experience writing and reviewing SOWs
- Basic understanding of EAR, ITAR and export regulations
- Excellent written communication and verbal presentation skills
- Strong administrative, organizational and time management skills to effectively support multiple projects.
- Critical thinking and complex problem-solving ability.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
