Job Description
You will be the Manufacturing Engineer Associate Manager for the MDMS Team. Our team is responsible for providing support to day‑to‑day activities across different sites to ensure quality, cost, and schedule goals are met with responsibilities to investigate, communicate, and solve design, producibility, and process challenges related to assembly/manufacturing. Lead investigations across all functions of the product flow, taking into consideration the unique requirements of each customer and variant. Perform and support non‑recurring engineering activities during product start‑up, which includes affordability/producibility considerations, tooling and fixture design, development of machine automation programs as required, and configuration of the manufacturing bill of materials for manufacturability. Employ Manufacturing Readiness Assessment (MRA) tools to evaluate process readiness and establish corrective plans to achieve required maturity.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Manufacturing Engineer Associate Manager, the successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership and technical skills and experience in the discipline of manufacturing engineering for assembly, test and integration of complex electro‑opto‑mechanical systems and related processes, and will have a working knowledge of the skills and support needed by programs for process development.
- Responsible for the schedule and budgetary execution of operational objectives.
- Assign tasks and review work for completion and adequacy in meeting objectives.
- Lead concurrent engineering efforts in the development of new products and all phases of the program’s product life‑cycle.
- Active involvement in daily operations to meet critical schedules or resolve complex problems.
- Lead the team in Engineering Change incorporation, process improvement, and teaming initiatives.
- Lead investigations across all product‑flow functions, considering unique customer and variant requirements.
- Support non‑recurring engineering (NRE) activities, including affordability/producibility analysis, tooling and fixture design, and machine‑automation development.
- Configure manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM) for manufacturability and use MRA tools to assess process readiness.

Basic Qualifications:
- B.S. in relative Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Materials, Manufacturing, Industrial, etc)
- 8 years or more of professional manufacturing related experience
- Extensive technical knowledge and experience in the areas of missile manufacturing, process development, and testing
- Experience with manufacturing tooling design and fabrication
- Hands on experience in the design of manufacturing processes, Work Instructions, equipment installation, assembly and material handling
- Leading recurring and non-recurring Manufacturing Engineering activities and personnel to meet technical schedule and cost commitments
- Drive internal initiatives such as Process Improvements, Lean, and Manufacturing Technology enhancements and by improving the business processes used to execute Recurring and Non-recurring support
- Strong ability in written and verbal technical communication skills. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively across multiple levels of the business and across all disciplines (e.g. technical and non-technical staff, external customers, program management)
- The successful candidate will also possess excellent problem solving and analytical skills in one or more of the following disciplines - mechanical engineering, optical engineering, electrical engineering, metrology engineering, and/or material science - and be able to adapt those skills in support of manufacturing within the programs supported
- Must have the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
- Extensive Change Board experience
- Working and in-depth knowledge of SAP
- Ability to manage manpower and work scope across multiple manufacturing sites
Desired Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to exercise business acumen with appropriate capital and facility planning, justification and execution
- Understanding and wide application of complex Electro-mechanical/Optical Final Assembly, Integration and Test methods
- Experience in representing Operations teams for a wide range of difficult technical issues associated with specific projects
- Experience in effective team leadership in planning and execution of Process Improvements and technical solutions
- Experience in Manufacturing & Test Statement of Work and generation of Proposal Basis of Estimate input
- Highly skilled at interpretation of Engineering specifications and the translation into effective Work Instructions
- Experience in effective collaboration with engineering to develop assembly design concepts and specification requirements
- Excellent Team facilitation skills and effective use of Lean Six-Sigma tools
- The candidate will interface with Program engineers to ensure producibility and drive cost savings opportunities (affordability)
- Breadth in skills and/or experience across multiple disciplines of optical assembly, mechanical assembly, electrical assembly and related processes is strongly desired
- M.S. in Engineering
- CAM and MRB Experience
- Knowledge of automation and cost reduction techniques

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
