Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Senior Principal Project Manager based onsite at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, FL.
The selected candidate will play a pivotal role within our Project Management Team, driving operational excellence through proactive engagement. We are looking for a collaborative professional who will oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects, acting as a liaison between project management, planning, engineering, global supply chain, and business management. The role involves reviewing project statuses, budgets, schedules, and risks, ensuring all contractual requirements are fulfilled.
What You'll Get to Do:
- Lead overall cost, schedule, and technical performance to contract baselines, ensuring EVMS compliance and adherence to Northrop Grumman program governance.
- Serve as Control Account Manager (CAM): plan and authorize work, manage budgets, perform earned value, analyze variances, drive corrective actions, and maintain EACs.
- Own status, budget, and schedule reporting; prepare and present monthly program status, PMR, and CDRLs, and internal/customer briefs with performance, forecasts, and impacts.
- Monitor progress using the IMS and critical path analysis; drive interventions, recovery plans, and disciplined baseline change control to meet milestones.
- Lead issue identification and resolution through RCCA; expedite decisions, implement corrective actions, and track closure to protect cost, schedule, and performance.
- Coordinate cross-functional execution across engineering, operations, quality, test, supply chain, finance, and subcontracts; align suppliers/vendors to program objectives and deliverables.
- Serve as primary point of contact for internal and external Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR) (e.g., SRR/PDR/CDR); ensure readiness, requirements traceability, and timely action closure.
- Manage risk and opportunity: maintain the register, quantify cost/schedule impacts, lead risk boards, and execute mitigation/contingency plans with measurable burn-down.
- Enforce process, gate, and milestone adherence; ensure compliance with SOW/WBS, configuration and change control, quality, security, and contractual requirements.
- Lead proposals and contract modifications: define scope and WBS, develop BOEs and cost/schedule inputs, support fact-finding/negotiation, and implement changes into the baseline.
- Plan and facilitate program cadences and meetings; set agendas, build briefing materials, document decisions, and manage action trackers to closure.
- 25 percent domestic and international travel will be required.
Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Project Manager:
- U.S. citizenship with Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 10+ years of project/program management experience; or Master’s degree with 8+ years; or PhD with 5+ years; or 14+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
- Demonstrated leadership executing EVMS on complex development or production efforts; hands-on Control Account Manager (CAM) experience
- Experience working across cross-functional organizations (e.g., Program Office, Engineering, Manufacturing/Operations, Supply Chain/Subcontracts, Finance, Quality)
- Proficiency in developing and maintaining resource-loaded Integrated Master Schedules (IMS), performing critical path and schedule health analysis, and driving recovery actions
- Proven cost/schedule control using EVM metrics (CPI/SPI/ETC/EAC), variance analysis, and corrective action planning
- Experience leading risk and opportunity management (identification, quantification, mitigation/realization) and maintaining program risk registers
- Experience planning and leading formal program governance reviews and customer status reviews; strong briefing and stakeholder engagement skills
- Customer interface experience, including managing CDRLs, supporting proposals, and implementing contract changes into program baselines
- Supplier/subcontract management experience, including SOW/BOE development, integration of subcontractor schedules/cost/EVM, and performance management
Preferred Qualifications for Senior Principal Project Manager:
- Experience with DCMA EVMS surveillance/compliance and IPMDAR/CPR reporting
- Advanced scheduling expertise (e.g., DCMA 14-Point assessments, schedule risk analysis/Monte Carlo/Milestone Pro)
- Proposal leadership experience, including WBS/SOW development, BOEs, cost volume inputs, and basis-of-estimate defensibility
- Experience leading Integrated Product Teams and managing multiple control accounts across cross-functional stakeholders
- Demonstrated success on major DoD programs (development and/or production), including change management and baseline control

Primary Level Salary Range: $101,400.00 - $152,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
