Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Software or Principal Software Developer Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.

The Aeronautics Systems sector Research & Advanced Design (R&AD) is looking to grow Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) in support of designing and implementing technologies critical to the USAF Open Architecture initiatives. Our work influences the investment decisions of our senior leadership and customer program offices as well as impacting on the Air Force enterprise of acquisition programs.

Duties include deploying product updates, deploying software/containers in software factories, and building CI/CD pipelines. This role will have a large impact on team productivity and as such requires an understanding of the software development lifecycle and various automation tools for developing digital pipelines (CI/CD pipelines).

The AI Software Developer will support software development for use across multi-domain/multi-platform scenarios using software engineering best practices and standards and participate in the full life cycle of software development, to include requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit testing, integration, and formal system testing within a Kubernetes cluster environment.

Basic Qualifications:

Software Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 0 years of relevant experience

Principal Software Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 3 year of relevant experience OR a PhD in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 1 year of relevant experience

Demonstrable experience with Java or C++ and scripting languages (bash, python, yaml)

Experience writing micro-services in event driven architecture using containers and container management, Helm Charts, Cloud Platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing and deployment

Proficient with networking concepts

Demonstrated experience in development and application of AI/ML algorithms

Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated Secret clearance (DoD must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science

Experience with data schemas such as OpenAPI, AsyncAPI or customer schemas such as UCI

Experience integrating and debugging software on hardware

Experience working within an Agile environment

Familiarity with software development tools such as Git, CMake, and Eclipse, Visual Studio Code

Proficiency working in Linux and commands

Able to work independently and identify solutions to complex problems

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Primary Level Salary Range: $77,200.00 - $115,800.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
