The CNS Surveillance Department in Melbourne, Florida is seeking to fill a Senior Level System Engineering position. The primary responsibility for this position will be to support the sustainment and development of new features for our CISS (Configurable Integrated Surveillance System) for commercial aerospace platforms. The engineer who fills this position must demonstrate a high level of professional competence and a knowledge of the principles and techniques commonly used in systems development and qualification related to commercial avionics. The selected candidate will perform assignments requiring the use and application of systems engineering principles and techniques and integration and trouble shooting. The engineer who fills this position must also have strong design and problem-solving skills for both hardware and software.
This is an onsite position based in Melbourne, Florida.
What you will do:
Develop product level requirements from customer and industry specifications. Further decompose requirements to support both SW and HW developments
Perform trade studies to support and optimize the technical solution and requirements
Define integration and verification strategies for avionic functions and products, create test plans, test case and procedure, execute system verification and create test reports.
Analyze data gathered and develop solutions or alternative methods of proceeding to optimize performance and increase efficiencies in the development activities.
Communicating effectively to a host of stakeholders across the technical spectrum, including customers, program management, senior leadership and functional teams.
Qualifications you must have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Familiarity with Systems Engineering development process to include requirements management
Experience in leading real-time, embedded system design and development.
Qualifications we prefer:
Familiarity with flight deck design concepts and operational certification requirements.
Knowledge of technical project management principles to manage dependencies/risks.
Experience with safety-critical, real-time, embedded system development.
Experience with avionics or other aircraft system development and certification.
Experience developing systems that are compliant with ARP-4754, RTCA DO-178, DO-160 and DO-254.
Experience with leading multidisciplinary team in both Agile and waterfall development methods
Familiar with script-based verification method and practice (Python, LabVIEW).
Familiar with software & complex device development life cycle and verification.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
