Description: You will be the SCE AIE Software Engineer for the Software Cybersecurity Engineering (SCE) AI Enablement team. Our team drives the strategic adoption of AI across Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control Engineering & Technology, accelerating the software development lifecycle.
What You Will Be Doing
As the SCE AIE Software Engineer you will be responsible for designing and implementing AI‑enabled development workflows that increase developer velocity while maintaining strict security standards.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Assist in designing AI‑augmented IDEs and LLM‑based tools to reduce manual effort in coding, testing, and documentation.
Evaluate, deploy, and optimize AI tools within secure, air‑gapped or classified environments.
Translate high‑level AI enablement strategy into concrete technical implementations that improve developer productivity.
Establish best‑practice guidelines for safe AI‑generated code, ensuring alignment with MFC cybersecurity and quality standards.
Mentor peers and share knowledge so other engineers can automate routine tasks and focus on high‑value architectural challenges.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN – This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance. A company‑sponsored interim secret clearance is required to start.
Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. • Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret Clearance. • Professional experience in software development with a strong portfolio of delivered code. • Demonstrated proficiency in using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., agentic IDEs, LLMs) to significantly accelerate personal and team productivity. • Strong proficiency in Python and at least one other enterprise language (C++, Java, or Go). • Experience with modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and containerization. Desired Skills: • Knowledge of software cybersecurity principles (Secure Coding, Static/Dynamic Analysis). • Experience implementing AI tools within air-gapped or highly regulated environments. • Familiarity with prompt engineering and the optimization of LLMs for code generation and refactoring. • Strong communication skills with a track record of mentoring others in emerging technology adoption. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
