Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Principal Aeronautical Engineer OR a Sr. Principal Aeronautical Engineer (Electromechanical) to our team in Melbourne, FL.
As a member of the electromechanical team, you will be responsible for:
- Effectively use and/or apply technical principles, theories, and concepts to assigned tasks commensurate with engineering level
- Design and develop electrical box assembly, cable/wiring harness routing, and system cable/wiring harness routing drawings for overall aircraft functional systems including the selection of electro-mechanical components such as connectors, relays, switches, circuit breakers, clamps, and terminal junctions per Mil Spec requirements or proven commercial practices
- Develop technical solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
- Actively participate in team discussions by offering ideas and suggestions on how we can enhance the team and/or an individual’s ability to execute tasks, improve performance, and encourage innovation
- Proactively look to organize team tasks
- Make good judgment design decisions regarding individual tasks. i.e minimizing rework and maximizing reuse of existing designs
- Make efficient use of time and resources by prioritizing tasks to meet commitments
- Professionally represent the organization while interacting with internal and external contacts. Communicate with senior personnel on technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations
- Complete all BTPs, Change Orders, reports, analyses, and other deliverables and assignments with a high degree of quality and prepare for and participate in all product life cycle design reviews as required. Complete peer check assignment duties as requested and on time.
- Professionally represent the organization while interacting with internal and external contacts.
This position may be filled at either the Principal Aeronautical Engineer (Electromechanical) level OR the Sr. Principal Aeronautical Engineer (Electromechanical), depending upon the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Aeronautical Engineer (Electromechanical):
- Bachelor’s degree in a related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 5 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in a related STEM discipline and 3 years of relevant experience; OR a PhD in a related STEM discipline with 1 year of relevant experience.
- Experience with electromechanical components such as electrical box assembly, cable/wiring harness routing, and system cable/wiring harness routing
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP).
Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Aeronautical Engineer (Electromechanical):
- Bachelor’s degree in a related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 8 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in a related STEM discipline and 6 years of relevant experience; OR a PhD in a related STEM discipline with 4 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with electromechanical components such as electrical box assembly, cable/wiring harness routing, and system cable/wiring harness routing
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid modeling design skills (i.e., NX Siemens, Team Center Enterprise (TcE), CATIA, Solid Works).
- Ability to demonstrate independent creative thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience with designing and integrating components into larger systems.
- Experience managing projects (schedule and technical performance).
Salary Range
Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
