The Orion Test Operations Engineer will plan, prepare, and execute test activities for the Artemis program. The role coordinates all phases of test preparation and execution, updates automated test sequences, and provides continuous test-support coverage across rotating shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed test plans, procedures, and schedules.
- Prepare test hardware, software, and instrumentation in accordance with program requirements.
- Write, review, and modify automated test scripts to ensure reliable and repeatable execution.
- Execute functional, performance, and environmental tests, documenting results and discrepancies in a team environment.
- Provide 24 hr/7 day, in-person test support on a rotating schedule (day, split, and night shifts).
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency with automated test equipment, scripting languages, and/or data-acquisition systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a shift-based, 24-hour operational environment with evolving requirements and dynamic schedules.
Desired Skills:
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Basic exposure to crewed spacecraft or other high-reliability flight hardware (e.g., academic projects, co-op assignments, or internships).
- Introductory proficiency with the Linux operating system, including command-line navigation, simple scripting, and using Linux-based test tools.
- Fundamental knowledge of test engineering, operations, and processes, such as the purpose of test plans, test procedures, and test execution.
- Experience drafting or following simple test plans, test procedures, or technical documents gained through coursework, lab work, or short-term projects.
- Awareness of electrical ground-support equipment used to power and monitor spacecraft subsystems.
- Experience with automation-framework tools desired.
- Demonstrates initiative and works independently, but always follows approved procedures and coordinates with the team.

Ability to Work Remotely:
Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position:
9x80 every other Friday off
