Description: You will be the Optical Operator for the Optical Components Center. Our team is responsible for utilizing the latest capabilities in precision optical manufacturing to produce some of the world's most advanced weapon and sensor technology.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Optical Operator, you will work under general direction and from manufacturing process plans, engineering drawings, and specifications to perform a wide variety of complex optical fabrication processes including optical grinding and polishing. In addition you will complete measurements, data collection, and documentation required to verify compliance to optical MIL specifications using optical and mechanical measuring devices such as interferometers, gauges, and microscopes to evaluate optical components.
Your responsibilities will include:
Perform complex optical fabrication processes, including grinding and polishing.
Conduct measurements and data collection using interferometers, gauges, and microscopes.
Verify compliance with optical MIL specifications.
Document results and maintain accurate records.
Follow manufacturing process plans, engineering drawings, and specifications.

Basic Qualifications: • Hands‑on experience performing mechanical and optical evaluations. • Proven ability to handle and process optical materials safely. • Proficient with hand tools and precision machining equipment. • Capable of reading and interpreting schematics and engineering drawings. • Skilled at testing components to verify compliance with final specifications. • Strong mechanical aptitude. • Visual acuity correctable to 20/20. • Must have the ability to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement • Due to facility requirements, all candidates must be U.S Citizens Desired Skills: • Experience working with machinery or optics • Experience working as part of a team or in group settings Clearance Level: None Other Important Information You Should Know Expression of Interest: By applying to this job, you are expressing interest in this position and could be considered for other career opportunities where similar skills and requirements have been identified as a match. Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
