Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager Engineering, Systems Engineering 2 to join our team of individuals within our Systems Engineering organization supporting the Multi-Domain Command & Control (MDC2) Business Unit. The position will be in Melbourne, FL. This leadership position will be full-time in the office with minimum travel.
Position Overview
The selected candidate will lead a section of up to 15 Human Factors Engineers who support a portfolio of domestic and international contracts. This position reports to the Specialty Engineering Department Manager within the Multi-Domain Command & Control (MDC2), Global Surveillance Division. This role carries a 20% work-week allocation to the direct supervision, management, and leadership of the E-2 HFE Engineering Team, providing direction by utilizing Northrop Grumman management guidelines as well as general and sector policies. The role also supports a technical statement of work for the remaining 80% of the work week.
Essential Management Functions
- Conducts weekly flow-down meetings with assigned staff
- Attends weekly flow-down meetings with the Department Manager
- Supports staffing needs as required
- Conducts goal planning, performance evaluations, and merit budgeting
- Provides technical guidance and training to staff

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 9 years of engineering experience – or a master's degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of engineering experience
- Experience in Human Factors Engineering development in accordance with MIL-STD-1472, MIL-STD-1787, MIL-STD-46855, and/or MIL-HDBK-516
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
- Recently demonstrated knowledge of systems-engineering practices
- A final, adjudicated Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain PAR as required by the program
Preferred Qualifications
- A final, adjudicated Top Secret clearance
- Previous or existing E-2 Program Access Request (PAR)
- Graduate degree in STEM field.
- Prior work on multi domain command and control systems or similar mission critical platforms.
- Previous systems engineering leadership experience
- Experience in the military aerospace development environment
- Experience in naval aviation, with special consideration for those with E-2 Hawkeye experience

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
