THE WORK
Responsibilities include:
- Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
- Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup.
- Uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds.
- Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining.
- Fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required.
- May modify numerically controlled programs on numerically controlled (NC) machines.
- May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
- Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience using machinery involved in manual machining.
- Ability to operate a Lathe proficiently.
- Ability to operate and service Bridgeport milling machines.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experienced in tool fabrication.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
