Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for the Lab Operations Manager to join the team of qualified individuals on our T&E Organization. This leadership role is located onsite in Melbourne, Florida.
The Lab Operations Department is seeking a Section Manager to lead a team of Lab Cognizant Engineers, Lab Designers, Cyber Engineers and Software Engineers supporting the IPT in Melbourne, FL. This is a dual role Section Manager (Functional Role) and Lab Ops Engineer (Program Role). 20% will be the functional home room tasks and 80% is technical Tasks.

Functional Role and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will help their team understand the SIT&E organization's vision and principles, build a culture that empowers and motivates individual excellence, and establish functional homeroom shared accountability for program/project performance. Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Perform technical planning and cost and risk analyses for total systems. Section Manager responsibilities include working closely with the Department Manager and fellow section managers to implement department initiatives, ensuring successful planning and execution of program test engineering activities, collaborating with programs to satisfy staffing needs and provide operations support (incident investigations, metrics collection and analysis, etc.), setting goals and providing regular performance feedback to employees, supporting the annual salary review and promotion process, mentoring and developing the next generation of technical and project leadership, and improving and enforcing test engineering processes and procedures.
Program Role and Responsibilities
This position will entail maintaining smooth operation of multi-user System Integration Lab (SIL) environments. Efficient communication and shared understanding among stakeholders regarding relationships between system requirements and the system being developed, through precise engineering artifacts and traceability of designs to requirements. Frequent contact with individuals from other departments, and/or outside organizations. Candidate will be responsible for planning, executing and status programs to include technical performance. Responsible for looking across the organization for efficiencies including reduction of current plans while still meeting program needs. Manage design, integration and implementation schedules of Hardware In The Loop (HITL) test benches. Manage day to day schedule activities in System Integration Labs (SIL) and coordinate necessary troubleshooting when applicable.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 7 years of relevant experience
- Must have a minimum of 7 combined years’ experience in any of the following: Systems development experience; Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, systems architecture, Communications, Data links, Computer networks, Sensors, Avionics, COTS hardware, instrumentation systems, integration, and/or test
- Must have CAM experience
- At minimum, an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance is required to apply and to start the role, with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the Company to meet its business needs
Preferred Qualifications
- Master Degree in STEM
- Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
- Experience with T&E processes and procedures to support both management and engineering tasks at the Melbourne site
- Automated Test Experience
- Excellent organizational communications skills both verbal and written
- Self-starter with the ability to work effectively in a team-based environment

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,100.00 - $208,700.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
