HWIL Integration & Test Engineer, Sr - Orlando, FL
Description:
The HWIL Engineer serves as a senior engineer, providing comprehensive expertise in the design, development, and implementation of real-time, closed-loop HWIL capabilities across multiple programs. With 3+ years of relevant experience, you will work under general direction, influence project objectives, and engage senior personnel on critical technical matters while independently delivering practical solutions to complex problems.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead HWIL Integration: Oversee design, development, and implementation of real-time, closed-loop HWIL simulations (including Missile 6-DOF models) for air vehicle software, firmware, and hardware.
- System Testing & Validation: Integrate stimulation equipment, conduct verification & validation of systems and subsystems, and troubleshoot hardware/software failures using lab equipment (signal generators, DAQ, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers).
- Debug & Diagnose: Resolve complex issues related to software, hardware, connectors, timing, and overall design as a key member of the integration team.
- Program Coordination: Support program meetings, provide clear project status updates, and interface with multi-disciplinary teams (systems, software, mechanical, test).
- Customer & Requirement Management: Interpret customer needs, develop technical solutions, build product backlogs, and deliver constructive technical feedback.
- Technical Influence: Contribute to assignment objectives, influence HWIL strategy, and engage senior leadership on significant technical matters.
- Mentorship: Guide junior engineers and analysts, reviewing work at critical points and sharing best practices.
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience: 3 + years in HWIL integration, real-time simulation, or related test bed environments.
- Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, Engineering Management, or a related STEM discipline; advanced technical training in HWIL or simulation is a plus.
- Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain an Active Secret clearance (interim required at start).
- Strong knowledge of digital, analog, and mixed signal electronics.
- Hands-on experience with HWIL test equipment and real-time closed-loop simulators.
- Proficiency in Missile 6-DOF simulation design and analysis.
- Ability to design, develop, and test air vehicle software/firmware/hardware and integrate stimulation equipment.
- Team & Communication: Proven ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams, present technical briefings, and produce clear documentation.
Desired Skills:
- Experience leading or mentoring a small team of engineers.
- Familiarity with flight software integration and verification processes.
- Knowledge of industry and company best practices for HWIL test bed development.
- Experience coordinating with government customers for test support.
- Advanced training in real-time operating systems, FPGA-based simulation, or high performance computing for HWIL workloads.

Ability to Work Remotely:
Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position:
4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
