We're looking for a HVAC Mechanical Engineer to join our Buildings team and contribute to the delivery of innovative, sustainable, and efficient building solutions.
In this role, you'll support the design and delivery of HVAC systems for a variety of building projects, working alongside multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, high-quality engineering solutions. You'll help advance projects from concept through construction, contributing technical expertise, collaborating with clients and project stakeholders, and delivering designs that support project goals, schedules, and budgets.
What you'll do
- Design HVAC systems for a variety of building types, including commercial, civic, education, healthcare, transportation, retail, and mixed-use facilities
- Develop HVAC design criteria for comfort heating and cooling, temperature and humidity-controlled environments, specialized pressurization systems, and other building applications
- Perform load calculations and support equipment sizing and selection using industry-standard software
- Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering designs, including system narratives, calculations, and schematic design documents
- Develop ductwork layouts and mechanical system designs based on project requirements and design criteria
- Prepare construction documents, including specifications, sequences of operation, piping layouts, and mechanical system drawings
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders to deliver integrated building design solutions
- Conduct field assessments and support coordination with clients, vendors, and project teams
- Support project delivery by maintaining the quality, schedule, and technical accuracy of assigned engineering work
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional experience in the design of HVAC systems for buildings
- Extensive experience with Revit
- Extensive experience with load calculation software such as Carrier HAP and/or Trane Trace
- Thorough knowledge of codes and standards related to building mechanical systems, including IMC, FBC, ASHRAE, and NFPA
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineering Intern (EI) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
- Experience designing plumbing and building utility systems
