The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

Areas of Responsibility

The selected candidate will perform the day-to-day operations of the Ground Support Technical Operations (GSTO) group supporting the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Artemis program. The candidate will support Launch Vehicle Processing, Testing, and Validation of flight and ground systems.

Working in a team environment, the Technician will work to detailed instructions and schematics to perform work in all aspects of flight hardware.

The Technician will be participating in training requirements to obtain all necessary certifications to perform assembly work.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of related experience or equivalent technical training.

  • Experience with hydraulic systems or direct knowledge of hydraulic equipment functions. Basic electrical systems experience or knowledge is desired.
  • Must be able to work all shifts and a reasonable amount of overtime with limited prior notification.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to work at heights and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Must be able to support all shifts, work at various facilities, and support multiple groups as directed by the manager.
  • A mechanical and/or electrical background in aviation or aerospace fields is highly desirable.
  • Must be able to follow work instructions, interpret engineer drawings, and follow stringent work area rules and safety protocols.
  • Some experience in Microsoft Office Products (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is required.
  • Must be able to pass a SCAPE Physical and maintain a security clearance.

Essential Functions

  • All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.
  • Work will mainly be performed in an inside environment, but fieldwork can be a combination of inside and outside depending on the project.
  • Working at heights is required, and in confined spaces may be required.
  • Work among equipment and stations in support of launches.
  • If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.
  • Must comply with all "drug-free workplace" requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
