We specialize in Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) that provide advanced capabilities to serve the defense industry. Our RMS Training and Logistic Solutions (TLS) are designed to meet the unique needs of our customers, offering unparalleled performance, reliability, and versatility. We provide comprehensive support throughout the entire system lifecycle, from design and development to deployment and maintenance. With a focus on innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction, we are committed to delivering RMS solutions that exceed expectations and set new standards for performance and reliability.
The Work
- Perform preventive-maintenance inspections, functional tests, and calibrations; diagnose faults using schematics, service manuals, and ECOs (Engineering Change Order); replace/repair boards, modules, connectors, and firmware.
- Disassemble, inspect, and repair COLT test kits (signal generators, load banks, adapters); re-term or replace internal components; verify performance against test specifications.
- Conduct continuity, insulation-resistance, and dielectric-strength testing on TPS cables; splice, re-terminate, or replace cable sections per MIL-STD-810/461 requirements; update cable-status records.
- Resolve complex malfunctions (intermittent signal loss, timing anomalies, undocumented failure modes); lead (RCA) and document findings in Maintenance Action Reports (MAR).
- Review and apply engineering change notices (ECNs) and hardware/firmware updates to COLT, kits, and cables; verify functional and safety compliance before release.
- Execute depot-sustainment work orders for kits and TPS cables; perform functional acceptance testing after repair; ensure proper labeling, packaging, and storage of repaired assets.
- Team with Engineers, and depot operators on schematic interpretation, ESD best practices, and repair techniques; review rework for SOP compliance.
- Update equipment logs, calibration certificates, and maintenance records in SAP & ADIS; ensure adherence to DFARS (Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement), MIL-STD, and ISO-9001 requirements.
- Enforce grounding straps, ionizers, and controlled humidity; conduct safety briefings and participate in periodic safety audits.
- Identify reliability trends, propose corrective actions, support Performance Management Team (PMT) events, and contribute to SOP revisions and training material.
- Liaise with Test Engineers to schedule maintenance windows that minimize impact on test campaigns; provide rapid response for emergency repairs.
Who You Are
The COLT Test Technician / Depot Sustainment Operator – Maintenance II is the primary custodian of the Common Organizational Level Tester (COLT) and is responsible for the repair, calibration, and sustainment of COLT hardware, associated test kits, and TPS (Test Power Supply) cables used in depot-level support. This is an SCA (Service Contract Act) position governed by the Department of Labor. Blends advanced electronic-maintenance expertise with hands-on operator responsibilities. The incumbent troubleshoots, repairs, and certifies equipment, enforces ESD controls, updates records in SAP-PM, ensures compliance with DFARS, MIL-STD-810/461, and ISO-9001, and provides technical guidance to junior technicians and depot operators. Coordination with Test Engineers is required to schedule maintenance windows that minimize impact on test campaigns, and the role supports continuous-improvement initiatives and safety audits.
